I'm Susan, a happily married wannabe domestic goddess and mum of 3 beautiful boys under 6. I live in Australia. As of June 2014 I am also a part-time student of Naturopathy.
I started this blog in 2008 in the midst of some pretty major life changes, including losing my mum to cancer, and it's been my little creative outlet ever since.
When I first started blogging this was pretty much a baking blog. I had stumbled across Tuesdays with Dorie and the Daring Bakers and joined both almost immediately. I couldn't believe there were other people who liked to bake as much as I did!
Since then I've gotten married and had2 3 amazing little boys and this has changed the way I cook, bake and blog. You will definitely see more kid friendly snacks and quick weeknight dinners these days. I think any parent will agree that come witching hour often the last thing you feel like doing is cooking dinner!
Even more recently we (meaning me but the rest of the family has no choice but to follow along!) have made a real effort to cut the crap out of our diet. Not that we were ever really eating lots of junk but there always seemed to be a lot of processed food in the pantry. We no longer buy or eat boxed cereals, sugar, vegetable oil, sweet biscuits and most condiments. I'm pretty meticulous about reading labels and like to make my own wherever I can, time permitting.
Most of my baking these days is sugar free (meaning fructose free) and I use alternative sweeteners like dextrose, rice malt syrup and stevia where I can. You will still see some mainstream sweets but these are usually for special occasions where it is too hard to substitute ingredients or I am baking for others who wouldn't appreciate the alternative ingredients.
And just in case that all sounds too healthy I bake something sweet every couple of days, we go through kilos of butter, love fish and chips and do occasionally sneak chocolate into the shopping trolley.
Bottom line I think if we are eating well at home most of the time then there is nothing wrong with enjoying dessert at a restaurant or the kids eating some junk at a birthday party.
I LOVE cookbooks and kitchen gadgets and have a pretty extensive collection of both! We invested in a Thermomix in July 2014 and are loving the convenience and the ability to make virtually everything from scratch.

These days my photos are taken on a Nikon Coolpix s6500, which is a mid-range point and click. I'd like to think my photography skills have improved a little in the last 5 years. There's only so much photoshop can do!
Thanks for visiting. I hope you stay for a while and find something you can't wait to cook!
